ECRMC gives update on their COVID-19 preparedness
EL CENTRO, Calif. (KYMA, KECY)-The El Centro Regional Medical Center gives an update on where they stand during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Cedric Ceseña, the Fire Battalion Chief in El Centro says they continue to see more COVID cases in the valley. He says patients who have tested positive are a concern due to the oxygen hydration levels they see in the patient's blood. You don't need to have all symptoms to get checked out.
Ceseña says you can purchase an oximeter at any pharmacy that clips onto your finger to measure heart rate and oxygen saturation. If you can't purchase one, be on the lookout for the following symptoms; blue lips if you start acting confused, and if you suffer from chest pains. Immediately call 911 if needed, you don't need to have all symptoms to get checked out.
Dr. Adolphe Edward says if you have a need to come into the emergency room to do so. Whether it's to get checked out for COVID-19 or other sicknesses.
Dr. Edward says they have 98 patients hospitalized, 43 are COVID-19 patients, and emergency rooms are on the rise. 11 patients are in the Intensive Care Unit, and four additional non COVID patients.
He says to be very careful with crowds and always make sure to keep wearing your mask.
