NILAND, Calif. (KYMA, KECY)-Three men involved in a human smuggling attempt were arrested Saturday at the Highway 111 checkpoint.

The U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) says after the men were arrested, they were transported for further processing.

Record checks revealed one of the men, a 33-year-old undocumented immigrant, had a previous conviction from 2011 for “Felony Sex with Minor: 3+ years younger” out of Los Angeles County.

The man was sentenced to 6 months for his conviction.

The 33-year-old had previously been removed from the U.S. in 2011.
