Quarantine extension for Baja California

MEXICALI, B.C. (KYMA, KECY)-Baja California continues to be in quarantine as they are one of the states in Mexico with the highest cases and deaths from COVID-19.

On Monday, the day of healthy distance ended in Mexico, and 'the new normality' began, which through the implementation of traffic lights will reactivate social and economic activities depending on the rates of contagion that each country region has.

Baja California is at a red traffic light that refers to the continuation of the contagion curve to the upside, so the quarantine continues in Mexicali.

The Municipal President, Marina del Pilar Avila, reported that mobility continues to be a factor in preventing infection rates from falling compared to the rest of the State. She says that the security and hygiene restrictions will continue as is; social distancing, the closing of markets and self-service stores will continue in limited hours until 8 p.m., as well as the mandatory use of mouth covers and the restriction of the transit of two passengers per vehicle and the closure of roads.

Epidemiological traffic lights work with the classification of the colors red, orange, yellow, and green. These classifications will be measured depending on the hospitals.

Over 65 percent of the city is in red, the orange color indicates that hospitalization cases are less than 65 percent, yellow means hospitals are at 50 percent down, and green signifies the cases of hospitalization of less than 50 percent.

In Mexicali, there are currently 2,467 cases and 553 deaths.
