Agents seize crystal meth, arrest 7 in the desert
YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY)-Seven undocumented immigrants were arrested last week after attempting to smuggle crystal methamphetamine through the desert, according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP).
CBP says agents found all seven Mexican nationals illegally present in the U.S., just south of Interstate 8 west of Gila Bend.
After agents searched the individuals, they found a backpack containing a two-way radio and three plastic containers of crystal meth. The total weight of the drugs was nearly four pounds with an estimated value of $7,100.
The drugs were seized and the seven individuals were referred for criminal prosecution.
