Baja California among top states impacted by virus in Mexico
MEXICALI, Baja California (KYMA, KECY) - Baja California Health officials say the state continues to be a hotspot in Mexico in terms of the impact of coronavirus (COVID-10.
Currently there are 71,105 positive cases in Mexico, and 7,633 deaths. So far, Mexico has tested 225,650 individuals.
Baja California is the third most affected state in Mexico, behind Mexico City and the State of Mexico. For comparison, the state of Sonora is tenth in Mexico in terms of virus impact.
Baja California currently has 4,316 cases and 717 deaths. Mexicali leads the state with 1,983 positive cases and 177 deaths. However Tijuana leads the state's death-toll, with 471 deaths and 1,878 positive cases.
Health officials today announced only 10 percent of the infected population has needed hospitalization, and the rest are in self-isolation.
In Baja California, 63 percent of all cases are male patients, according to health officials.
