San Luis Río Colorado continues to lead in statewide death toll
SAN LUIS RIO COLORADO, Sonora (KYMA, KECY) - The Sonoran Secretary of health announced statewide cases have reached 1,000.
This is up 56 new cases, including 12 new cases in San Luis Rio Colorado (SLRC).
The Secretary of Health, Enrique Clausen Iberri, also announced six additional deaths in Sonora, including three new deaths in SLRC, bringing the total to 31 in the city.
SLRC currently leads Sonora in terms of deaths, with a wide margin between itself and Hermosillo, state capital.
In a press conference, Iberri provided more on SLRC's three most recent deaths:
The first was a 75-year-old woman. Iberri says she suffered from pulmonary obstruction and passed away on May 17.
The second death concerns a 77-year woman who died on May 15. Lab tests confirmed she was positive for COVID-19 on May 18.
The third death was a 71-year-old woman, who Iberri says passed away on May 16. She was confirmed positive for the virus on the May 18.
Iberri also provided further information on Sonora's current cases. Out of 1,037, 708 are in self-isolation, 112 are hospitalized, and 81 are in critical condition. This is a 14-person increase in critical patients.
