Officials say Mexico's mortality rate is at 10%

SAN LUIS RIO COLORADO, Sonora (KYMA, KECY) - The Secretary of Health of Sonora confirmed the state us up to 46 new cases Thursday evening.

Sonoran health officials also confirm four additional deaths Thursday, none of which are reported in San Luis Rio Colorado (SLRC).

There are now 790 cases confirmed in Sonora, with 13 new cases in SLRC since Wednesday.

Hermosillo, Sonora's capital, makes-up 32 percent of all cases. With 219 total cases, SLRC follows with 28 percent of Sonora's total.

Health officials now say the statewide death toll is at 62, with SLRC's death toll now at 21.

In a virtual press conference, Gerardo Alvarez with the state of Sonora says Mexico's COVID-19 mortality rate is at ten percent, saying now is Sonora's most critical time in its response to the pandemic.
