Yuma Agents seize meth, arrest subjects with outstanding warrants

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - Yuma Border Patrol agents say they arrested three individuals with meth and outstanding warrants Saturday morning.

It happened at the Interstate 8 checkpoint were agents say they responded to a Border Patrol canine alert on a rented Nissan occupied by three individuals, all U.S. citizens.

Agents sent the vehicle for a secondary, where they found an orange cooler in the trunk area. Inside, agents found three small packages of meth hidden under ice and soda.

The packages have an estimated street value of $5,000. Agents say they also found a backpack containing a small bag of meth for personal use and a scale.

Agents arrested the driver, a 57-year-old Phoenix man, and the passengers, a 42-year-old male and a 52-year-old female from Tucson.

Both passengers had outstanding state warrants.
