California voters may vote by mail in November

EL CENTRO, Calif. (KYMA, KECY) - California Governor Gavin Newsom signed an executive order to ensure every registered voter in the state is automatically mailed a ballot for the November presidential election.

The executive order doesn’t replace in-person voting but it is ensuring everyone has the ability to vote by mail.

For Cameron Campbell who usually votes in person, he says that voting by mail is the best thing to do considering the circumstances.

“So I think its really important that people don’t be standing outside of these voting offices because those packed lines could really get people sick so voting through mail is really gonna help people.”

For Annette she says voting by mail will save lives.

“It keeps people from going out and getting around other people and stuff, so it keeps the spread of the disease from going around.”

For Giovanni Murillo voting was never important to him but the pandemic has changed his mind.

“It is like some people say one vote doesn’t make a difference but I think it will you know.”

For Marcy Landeros she says she’s voting for her future and her daughters.

“But even the last ten years uhh we’ve grown from being one country and now I don’t think any of us know who we really are. That is why it is important to vote because that’ll help us figure out who we are as a country.”

Newsom says that while he is encouraging all voters to vote by mail the state is still working to have the appropriate number of physical sites for people to vote as well.
