YPD: Speed, alcohol believed factors in single-vehicle crash

YUMA, Ariz. (KECY, KYMA)-UPDATE

Police say the driver was flown to a hospital in Phoenix due to his injuries after crashing at the 4200 block of Avenue A early Friday morning.

According to the Yuma Police Department, a 26-year-old man driving a red Ford pickup truck attempted to pass another vehicle at a high rate of speed and lost control causing the truck to roll over several times. The driver was ejected from the vehicle and transferred to YRMC with serious injuries. YPD says he was later flown to the hospital in Phoenix.

Police say alcohol and speed appeared to be factors in the crash.

A single-vehicle crash closes Avenue A for hours, according to the Yuma Police Department (YPD).

Police say a call came in at five in the morning regarding a car crash. Avenue A will be closed from 40th Street to Airport Loop in Yuma.

YPD did not release other information other than saying it was a serious accident.
