Yuma County sees largest single-day jump in coronavirus cases

Health officials confirm 18 new cases

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - Yuma County District Health (YCDH) announced Tuesday it has confirmed another 18 cases of coronavirus. That brings the countywide total to 133.

So far, the health district has tested nearly a thousand people. Officials say they do expect the number of confirmed cases to rise as testing capabilities expand.

YCDH is not releasting any personal details about the patients, but new numbers show they include nine women and nine men. Four patients are under the age of 20. Five are between 20 and 44-year-old. Seven are between 45 and 54, and 2 are older than 65.

Arizona currently has 9,305 cases of coronavirus. The illness has killed 395 people across the state, including one person in Yuma County.
