Don Shula, legendary NFL coach dies at 90

(KYMA, KECY)-Former Miami Dolphins coach Don Shula has died at the age of 90.

The Miami Dolphins announced on Twitter Monday morning Don Shula passed away peacefully in his home.

According to WSVN, born Donald Francis Shula, he got his start playing for John Carroll University before being drafted by the Cleveland Browns in 1951.

Shula played for four different NFL teams over the span of seven years.

In 1970, Dolphins owner Joe Robbie brought Shula in from Baltimore to be the head coach.

It didn’t take long for the Dolphins to become winners under Shula’s leadership.

In his first year, the team went 10-4.

In 1971, the Dolphins went to Super Bowl 6, where they lost to the Dallas Cowboys.

Shula was inducted into the Hall of Fame in the summer of 1997.
