EL CENTRO, Calif. (KYMA, KECY) - The city of El Centro is gearing-up for phase one of reopening businesses despite Imperial County guidelines.

The City presented a timeline of when businesses can re-open during their Facebook livestream meeting Friday afternoon.

According to the presentation, phase one will begin on Wednesday, May 6, allowing all commercial and retail stores to open-up for online and curbside pick up.

If all goes well, the City will move forward with phase two of the plan on May 11, allowing retail stores, commercial businesses, restaurants, and beauty salons to open with social distancing measures set in place.

Shortly after the timeline was approved by the city of El Centro, Imperial County sent out a memo stating all guidelines set by the county are to remain in place.

The county has yet to set a date for reopening businesses.

The county says they are working on a plan to reopen the economy in a coordinated effort.
