YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - The Yuma County Sheriffs Office (YCSO) says a 20-year-old man was killed in a boating accident on Saturday at the Colorado River.

Deputies identify the victim as 20-year-old as Tristen Hays, from Lakeside, Calif.

YCSO reported that at about 3:34 pm they received reports of a crash involving a boat and a jet ski on the Colorado River just north of Martinez Lake.

YCSO says after investigating they discovered the boat and jet ski were both traveling along the river in the same direction. For unknown reasons, the jet ski then turned into the path of the boat and that’s when the two crashed.

The accident is still under investigation and anyone with information on what happened is urged to contact YCSO at 928-783-4427. You can also submit an anonymous tip at www.yumacountysheriff.org.
