Cases in San Luis Rio Colorado climb to 115
Death toll now at 8
SLRC, Sonora, (KYMA, KECY) - Sonoran health officials confirm 10 additional coronavirus (COVID-19) cases in the state, bringing the total to 224.
Of these 10 cases, eight are residents of San Luis Rio Colorado (SLRC). There are now 115 confirmed cases in the city.
In a video conference Saturday evening, the Sonora State Health Secretary Enrique Clausen Iberri reported two more deaths in the state, bringing the total to 26.
One of these deaths was a resident of SLRC, bringing the death toll to 8.
This latest death in SLRC was a 51-year-old man with a history of diabetes. Iberri says he first experienced respiratory symptoms on April 16, and his condition worsened until he died on April 24.
Iberri says of the 10 new cases in Sonora, 9 are in isolation and one is hospitalized. They range between the ages of 31 and 60 years old.
Iberri also announced the hospital staff in SLRC is in the process of boosting its medical staff. There had been a shortage of health professionals, but Iberri says they recently contracted 16 doctors, three specialists, and 11 nurses. He says this process is ongoing.
