MEXICALI, B.C. (KYMA, KECY)-Up to 30 COVID-19 screening tests will be performed free of charge a day at the diagnostic center at the Autonomous University of Baja California in Mexicali (UABC).

The diagnostic center is made up of a group of 30 professionals from the highest university and is located at the Mexicali campus School of Medicine.

The group of professionals will be supporting diagnoses of patients from hospitals and public clinics in Baja California. UABC already has special laboratory equipment installed for these tests. Health officials say screening tests will help minimize suspected cases.

The diagnosis takes approximately six hours but the certification of the results will be in charge of the state laboratory that would take to have the diagnosis from one to two days.

The operation of the COVID-19 diagnostic center is expected to begin this week. The materials required by the health department will be issued to the center as soon as they arrive.
