University of Arizona donates 300 test kits to Yuma County
YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - Thanks to the efforts of Representative Tim Dunn (AZ-District 13), Yuma County is getting hundreds of coronavirus (COVID-19) test kits.
As the sudden demand for test kits nationwide has made adequate distribution difficult at the local level, many wonder if it is enough.
Even in our region, there are local testing capacities which don’t cover everyone who wants to get tested.
That’s why researchers and students at the University of Arizona decided to make their own, donating 300 test kits to Yuma County.
Representative Tim Dunn is the one responsible for reaching out to the university, and now we can expect hundreds of kits to be distributed throughout the county.
“In conversations with the U of A, I saw that they had a press release that they were actually being able to do some testing for their campus, and I reached out to them and was very excited about the process and we wanted to make sure that they not only help Arizona, but made sure they went out to rural Arizona, specifically here for Yuma"

Yuma County government expressed their gratitude in a video posted to Facebook:
Yuma County health officials say the 300 test kits will be distributed over Thursday and Friday to Yuma Regional Medical Center and local health care providers.
