Coronavirus kills 4 more people in Washington state
Deaths bring total fatalities to six the past week - NBC's Jay Gray reports
SEATTLE, Wash. (KYMA, KECY) - As the number of confirmed cases, and concerns, grow across the United States, so do the almost hourly warnings from physicians, health officials, and politicians about what's to come.
"Think about it as a very big snow storm that's about ot hit us." said Nebraska Governor Pete Ricketts.
Except this storm is invisible, deadly, and seemingly inevitable. Six patients with the virus have died in Washington state as the sickness continues to spread.
"Undoubtedly that is what we'll see, the more we test the more we'll see." says Dr. Joseph Fair, an NBC Medical Contributor.
More than 90 cases confirmed now, in at least 14 states.
"We are in uncharted territory..." said Dr. Tedros Adhanom, General-Director of the World Health Organizaion (WHO).
But health experts are quick to stress there is no need for panic.
"With early aggressive measures countries can stop transmission and save lives." said Dr. Adhanom.
Simple, yet effective measures like washing your hands often, and avoiding those who are sick, or have traveled to areas where the virus is widespread.
