UPDATE 4:50 P.M.:

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - We're learning more about a crash on Avenue B near County 20th Street. We've now learned the multi-vehicle wreck involved a head-on collision.

The Yuma County Sheriff's Office (YCSO) tells us it started when two vehicles tried to pass a southbound produce truck with two fully-loaded trailers. The first vehicle passed successfully. Deputies say the second car, a black Toyota, didn't.

Deputies say it side-swiped an oncoming red Toyota in the northbound lane. The red Toyota then hit the semi and the black Chrysler behind it. The black Chrysler then hit the big rig head-on.

Paramedics took the drivers of the black and red Toyotas to the hospital. The driver and the passenger of the Chrysler had to be airlifted to the hospital. The truck driver did not get hurt.

Avenue B remains closed between Avenue 19th and Avenue 23rd Streets while deputies complete their investigation.
