Spike in femicides raises alert in Mexicali

MEXICALI, B.C. (T3)-With the violence against women in Mexico, the brutal rate of femicides keeps increasing in Baja California.

The governor of Baja California, Jaime Bonilla, said that the Gender Alert would be applied, guaranteeing justice will be served.

Bonilla says he will ask the federal government to immediately declare a gender violence alert like other countries has in the past.

The Mayor of Mexicali, Marina del Pilar, says she works hand in hand with the women's institute to make sure women are treated quickly in case of a violent act.

The mayor says, "Rosa Rosa," a training for Mexican police, will take in effect to help women at risk.
