Police shoot California man in the leg after threatening people with a knife in SLRC

SAN LUIS RIO COLORADO, Mexico (KYMA, KECY)- Mexican police shot a man in the knee after police say he threatened pedestrians with a knife.

Tribuna de San Luis says a 36-year-old man from Calif., allegedly threatened pedestrians walking down Avenida Obregon, between Calle 11 and 12 on Tuesday afternoon.

According to police, the streets were closed after the 36-year-old man kept running up and down the streets waving a knife and a screwdriver.

After a brief chase, police were able to arrest the man.

Reports say the man was taken to the hospital for his injuries.

Police continue to investigate.
