Coronavirus fears affecting Chinese restaurants in SLRC

SAN LUIS RIO COLORADO, Mexico (KYMA, KECY)-Plenty of people in San Luis Rio Colorado, Mexico, fear to eat Chinese food due to the coronavirus.

Tribuna de San Luis reports Chinese food restaurants have seen a decrease in sales after customers say they are afraid of getting infected.

According to reports, plenty of people in Colonia Residencias have questioned Chinese food establishments due to the personal hygiene of the restaurants.

As of now, there has not been a case of the coronavirus in San Luis, Mexico, but Chinese nationals residing in the area say there is no risk of contracting the virus in their restaurants.

One of the employees at a Chinese food establishment said, "None of us have traveled to China after the coronavirus was uncovered, so even if the virus was born in the country where we are from, that does not mean that all of us and our businesses are a risk to people," he said.

Reports say as of today, there are over 1,660 people killed by the coronavirus in Wuhan, China. According to the World Health Organization, there are currently over 68,500 confirmed cases.
