PLYMOUTH, Mass. (KYMA, KECY) - Vandals have targeted one of the most iconic pieces of American history.

Workers at Pilgrim Memorial State Park this morning to discover Plymouth Rock covered in graffiti. The vandals also spray painted a statue and a bench.

The rock commemorates the 1620 arrival of the Mayflower. It marks the spot on which the Pilgrims first stepped onto American soil. The city of Plymouth is preparing to mark the 400th anniversary of their arrival.

Fortunately workers were able to remove the graffiti with a power washer.
