Coronavirus evacuees arrive in California
Passengers aboard flights headed for quarantine
FAIRFIELD, Calif. (KYMA, KECY) - More than 300 more American evacuees from the virus zone in China are back in the United States.
Two jets carrying 350 passengers landed at a Travis Air Force base in Northern California late Wednesday morning. Some will be quarantined there. Others will fly on to a quarantine center on the Marine Corps Air Station Miramar near San Diego.
Evacuees at Travis AFB will stay in a base hotel. The military moved out all other guests and staff before their arrival.
Those sent to Miramar will stay in the base's "Consolidated Bachelor Quarters." These are hotel-like accommodations capable of housing at least 250 people.
More planes with American evacuees from China will arrive this week at military bases in Nebraska and Texas.
