With President Trump’s impeachment trial well underway, Yuma County Republicans are asking Democrats to "Stop the Madness."

Republicans are hosting a rally Friday night to get the attention of Democratic Senator Kyrsten Sinema and Democratic candidate Mark Kelly.

They want the democratic senator to vote against the President’s impeachment.

Local republicans also want Senate candidate Mark Kelly to side with Arizonans who oppose the trial.

But Arizona Democratic Party Vice Chair Brian Rasmussen said he does not think the rally will be effective.

He believes Sinema will vote to impeach the president.

“Think in the end she’s going to do the right thing and stand with the law and justice, the way she stands with veterans the way she stands on healthcare. She’s on the right side of history on a lot of those issues," said Rasmussen.

Many local Republicans continue to back the president.

The event will be held at the Yuma County Republican Party headquarters 1185 S. 4th Ave. N Yuma, AZ 85364.

News 11 will be at the rally getting Republican's perspective. Tune in to the Evening Edition for more.
