CALEXICO, Calif. (KYMA, KECY)- A gang member is arrested after illegally entering the U.S., west of Calexico Port of Entry.

The U.S. Customs and Border Protection said the man was arrested Sunday and was transported to the El Centro Station for processing.

He was identified as 24-year-old Jorge Escobar Salinas, an El Salvador national. Agents said his records revealed to be a documented MS-13 gang member.

CBP said an Immigration Judge had previously ordered Escobar removed from the United States on November 13, 2019.

Escobar is being held in federal custody pending further criminal prosecution.
