Baby drowns in bathtub after mother took some “me time”

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (KYMA, KECY)- An 11-month old boy died after being left in a bathtub without supervision.

USA Today reports the Tennessee mother was arrested in the connection with the bathtub drowning of her 11-month-old.

Reports show Lindsee Leonardo told police she had left the boy in the bathtub along with her 23-month old and went outside to smoke a cigarette and have some "me time."

Leonardo stated she was outside with for about 10 minutes and listened to music on her phone before she came back inside the house and found the 11-month-old floating on his back unresponsive.

According to USA Today, the mother called 911 and performed CPR before the ambulance got there.

The 11-month-old regained a heartbeat when he was taken to Tennova Turkey Creek Medical Center, but after being transferred to a hospital, he died.

The mother is now charged with first-degree murder.
