Investigators identify body as that of Brittney Steenbergen

Victim's boyfriend suspected in her death

IMPERIAL COUNTY, Calif. (KYMA, KSWT, KECY) - Investigators have identified a body found in remote Imperial County earlier this week as that of a woman who disappeared from central California. Now the search is on for the father of her three children.

Brittney Steenbergen went missing on December 28. She was found dead Wednesday in a rural part of the Valley. The Tulare County Sheriff's Office says Brittney was murdered.

Deputies says her estranged boyfriend, Adel Hussein, is the prime suspect in the case.

Investigators seek Adel Hussein in connection with his estranged girlfriend's murder.

Homicide detectives say they're now working with the Imperial County Sheriff's Office (ICSO) and other local, state, and federal law enforcement to find and arrest Hussein. They urge anyone with information on his whereabouts to contact the Tulare County Sheriff's Office at (559) 733-6218.

ICSO has yet to respond to our requests for further information on how and where Brittney's body was discovered.
