EL CENTRO, Calif.

Primary elections are just around the corner. On March 3rd, voters in California will be voting for candidates representing them locally.

County supervisor races to be on the lookout for are district two, three, and four.

District 2 incumbent Luis Plancarte will be running against former county employee Claudia Camarena.

Meanwhile, district 4 supervisor Ryan Kelley and district 3 supervisor Michael Kelley are running unopposed.

“It means no one filed against them, and their name appears on the ballot all by themselves. They can just vote for themselves and they’re elected," said Debra Porter, Imperial County Registrar of Voters.

Imperial Irrigation District board of directors candidates won't have it that easy.

Division 2 incumbent Bruce Kuhn has three candidates running against him.

Division 4 incumbent Erik Ortega is going up against two candidates looking to take his seat.

The Imperial County Superior Court also has 4 candidates in the running.

“Of course the judges, who do you want to go in front of if you have something that needs to be aired with the court. As well as the district supervisors that are divided into the five areas of the county. It's important to pay attention to your district and who will represent you," said Porter.

U.S. Representative Juan Vargas is also running for re-election against Juan Hidalgo.

“He represents us and he represents a portion of San Diego, he comes here and he has bills that benefit both San Diego and Imperial County," said Porter.

Porter says voter guides will be sent out in February, a good way to know more about these candidates running for election.
