Driver killed in horrific crash in Phoenix

SUV gets wedged under big rig truck

PHOENIX, Ariz. (KYMA, KSWT, KECY) - Phoenix police say a driver is dead after slamming into a semi so hard, the SUV got wedged under the truck.

Azfamily.com reports the crash happened just after six Thursday morning in the area of 27th Avenue and McDowell Road near Interstate 10.

Police say paramedics pronounced the driver of the SUV dead at the scene. No one else was in the vehicle at the time of the accident. Police have not yet identified the driver. The truck driver was not hurt.

Police are still investigating the cause of the crash.
