Wrong-way driver dies after head-on crash
EL CENTRO, Calif. (KYMA, KSWT, KECY)- A wrong-way driver was killed after crashing with another vehicle Thursday evening.
California Highway Patrol said an 82-year old woman was driving without her headlights on.Â
Going northbound in the southbound lanes on State Route 111.Â
Following a head-on collision with another vehicle, first responders arrived on the scene.
Javier Amezcua of the California Highway Patrol said, "The driver of the Toyota was transported to El Centro Regional Medical Center for treatment of her injuries. Where she was pronounced deceased. The other driver driving a ford, a gentleman out of Brawley, appears he suffered a fracture to his right leg."
Authorities said the cause of the collision remains under investigation.
