Behind the curtain: Entertainment, dining, and recreation all available on base

Civilians can apply to access MCAS Yuma's base

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA) - Yuma is a city with a rich military presence, but often times civilians don't know that they too have access to the Marine Corps Air Station Yuma(MCAS) base.

If you're in for an adventure, check out Arizona Adventures on base, where civilians have access to rent or purchase outdoor and sporting equipment

There are jet skis, dirt bikes, quads, fishing boats, and much more!

Say you're craving a nice meal, the Sonoran Pueblo Event Center is open to all, serving a full menu of dishes all made from scratch.

MCAS Yuma wants civilians to know that its gates are open and the community is welcomed to explore all that the 3,000-acre base has to offer.

Shelbie Ravun manages the Sunset Lanes & Cinema at MCAS.

They have everything from 50-cent bowling to advanced screenings and discount priced movies in its 250-seat theatre.

Ravun said, “There’s a lot of good things that happen on base. I don’t think the patrons get to interact with marines as much as they should or would want to.”

A great place to meet marines on base, perhaps the Officer's Club where patrons can enjoy over 24 craft beers.

As a civilian, if you're interested in gaining access to all of the amenities MCAS Yuma has to offer, start by visiting www.mcasyuma.marines.mil.

On the home page, select the welcome tab, and click base access.
