Yuma Police investigate crash that shut down westbound 16th Street

UPDATE: 9:30 p.m

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KSWT, KECY) - We’re learning more about a motorcycle crash that shut down part of 16th street Wednesday evening.

Yuma Police now say a 45-year-old man crashed his Harley Davidson in the 1400 block of 16th Street around 7 p.m. Officers are still investigating the cause of the crash.

Paramedics took the man to Yuma Regional Medical Center with serious injuries. He was then airlifted to Phoenix for more extensive care.

Yuma Police ask anyone who may have witnessed this accident to call them at (928) 373-4700 or 78-Crime at (928) 782-7463 to remain anonymous.

The crash forced police to close all westbound lanes between 14th Avenue and Avenue B. Officers also blocked off one eastbound lane.

We’re told a motorcycle rider suffered serious injuries in the crash, but police have released few other details at this time.
