Giant Nutcracker knocks down volunteer

NEW YORK CITY, NY (KYMA, KSWT, KECY/NBC News) - A volunteer in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade took quite a tumble when a massive balloon went awry.

The unfortunate moment was caught on camera. Handlers were trying to pull the Nutcracker balloon upright after the wind tipped it over.

In the vide, you can see the volunteer running towards the wayward balloon. Instead of catching the tether for, the volunteer caught the full force of the balloon right in the face.

The handler wasn't seriously hurt.

At one point high winds threatened to ground Macy's iconic balloons, but officials decided to let them fly at a lower elevation.
