Nurse imposter sentenced to 4 years in prison
PHOENIX, Ariz. (KYMA, KSWT, KECY)- A nurse imposter from Phoenix is sentenced to four years in prison on Thursday.
A press release provided from the Attorney General's Office (AGO) said that in October 2018, 33-year-old Daniel Ray Stewart submitted an application to a Valley hospital falsely claiming that he was a registered nurse using a different name.
Reports said the hospital management became suspicious of Stewart's behavior while he was at the hospital's new employee orientation process.
Background investigations revealed Stewart had a criminal history, which included a 2010 conviction in North Carolina for impersonating a physician.
AGO said on December 21, 2018, agents arrested Stewart at his home in Phoenix.
He has remained in custody since his arrest.Â
Stewart pleaded guilty on September 20, 2019, to the offense of Fraudulent Schemes and Artifices, a Class 2 Felony.
On November 21, 2019, Superior Court Judge Warren Granville sentenced Stewart to four years in prison.
