Couple recalls their adoption process
IMPERIAL, Calif. (KYMA, KSWT, KECY)-Two little boys found in an alleyway in 2017, abandoned by their biological mother and left for dead.
Then, a miracle happened.
Tina Williams, the Supervisor Social Worker at Charlee Family Care recalls, "Their hearts were still pumping. And they got them to the hospital. They had them on life support. And they were little premies when they were born."
But these babies didn't have a mother or a father. Something both Felipe and Violeta Pedernal wanted to be.
They had tried for a decade to have a child of their own with no success.
Then the idea of adopting came along. And with that, a call from Williams would change their lives forever.
Felipe remembers, "Two boys that need homes, if we're willing to take them in. So I talked to my wife. Yea let's take them in. Whether we can adopt them or not it's for the boys you know. It's to help them because they need the home."
For the couple it's was love at first sight.
"We rushed to the hospital. We took them and we held them in our arms. And it felt like they're our own from that moment," said Violeta.
Countless sleepless nights and diaper changes later, they wouldn't change this for the world.
Violeta added, "As the days go by, we become accustomed to our routine. And we begin to enjoy them and they bring us so much love. And so much joy."
