YPD offering a new way to report crimes
YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KSWT, KECY)- The Yuma Police Department (YPD) is now implementing Coplogic, a way residents can report non-violent crimes within their community, all online.
The system is now available, all that is needed is an internet connection and access to the YPD app.
This new way of reporting is supposed to provide members of the community with a faster and more efficient way of reporting any variety of non-injury, and no suspect crimes to the department.
YPD said that being able to report crimes online, it eliminates the waiting time for an officer to arrive to file a report. It also eliminates having to take an officer out of the field to take these reports.
If you don't have access to a computer or the app on your phone, there is a kiosk available at the station where you can report these crimes as well.
Some of the non-violent crimes that community members can report online include, fraud, harassing phone calls, identity theft, lost property, and shoplifting among many others.
These reports are generated quickly, and people who file a report can request copies for insurance purposes.
YPD urges the community to report all crimes, that way they can pick up any trends if there are any, and prevent any bigger crimes from happening.
