Tonight: look up for the Leonid Meteor Shower

MGN

May even be a better chance Wednesday-Thursday

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA)- Look to the stars this evening for a free show courtesy of the night sky.

The Leonid Meteor Shower runs annually from November 6-30, but it peaks tonight-- visibility permiting.

We are expecting cloudy skies for the next couple of days, so Thursday will probably be our best bet here in the Desert Southwest.

If skies are clear, bhg.com says people should prepare to spend up to two hours scanning the night sky, which could exhibit 15 shooting stars per hour.

Success in catching the spectacle varies with light conditions. Tonight the moon is in its Waning Gibbous phase, casting considerable light, though not as much as a full moon.

Your location has a lot to do with your chances as well. If you're within city limits, light pollution will definitely be in the way.
