The Calexico Neighborhood House hosts toy drive for families in need

CALEXICO, Calif. (KYMA)The Calexico Neighborhood House is bringing the Christmas cheer to low-income families in the city. 

But they'll need the community's help to make it happen. 'Till the first week of December, the Calexico Neighborhood House is holding a toy drive for hundreds of children in town. 

Knowing families have a hard time making ends meet already, Raquel Estrada, the group leader at the Calexico Neighborhood House said providing the gift of giving makes a difference in a child's life during the holiday season.  

"They get so excited, and they're so happy. And they turn around to their parents and like 'Look Mom! Look, Dad!'And it's something so special you know. And it's also...you see their parents...they're very grateful for what you do for their children to you know. For whatever reason, it's hard to provide sometimes, so it's very special."

Toys can be dropped off at the Calexico Neighborhood House, or monetary donations can be made through their Facebook page. The group is also offering to pick up presents from residents as well.
