New stop sign coming to Tacna

Tacna residents will see a new stop sign right off of Avenue 43E and County 8th Street.

The county is installing the stop sign right where the county road turns into a private dirt road.

It’s not a particularly high-traffic area, but the quick transition from pavement to dirt raises a variety of safety concerns.

“S ,o essentially we had vehicles traveling 50 miles per hour down the county road crossing 43E onto a private road or a dirt road,” explained Frank Sanchez, deputy county engineer.

The county only learned about the safety issue after a resident raised their concerns.

Officials said it is simple for other citizens to follow suit.

You can head to the county’s website and inform them on issues in the county here.
