Jeep rolls on Highway 95
A driver drifted off to sleep while his Jeep drifted off the road. Fortunately he walked away from the wreck that followed.
The Somerton Cocopah Fire Department was called to County 17th and Highway 95 just before two Thursday afternoon to deal with the accident. They arrived to find a Jeep upside down in a field.
They found the driver sitting on a berm complaining of head pain and a foot injury. He declined to go to the hospital.
Firefighters say the driver told them he was heading south on Highway 95 when he fell asleep behind the wheel. His jeep then drifted across the northbound lanes and plunged into the field. Marks on the berms surrounding the crash site indicate the Jeep rolled several times.
The driver says he was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the wreck. Firefighters say the seatbelt may have saved his life.
