Perceptions remain polarized

YUMA, Ariz. - Reaction to Wednesday's historic impeachment hearing is as divided as the Representatives questioning the witnesses.President Donald Trump is only the third president to face impeachment.

Democrats say he violated portions of the constitution. Republicans say he acted within his executive powers.  They believe he's done nothing wrong.

“With the state economy and what the president has done for our country, the Democrats are doing all they can to take him out,” said Tim Dunn, an Arizona state Republican representative.

Dunn thinks this is just a political move with the 2020 election less than a year away.

However, Bryan Rasmussen with the Yuma Democratic Party said this is a result of “the crimes and misdemeanors he’s committed in broad daylight” for months.

“In Donald Trump's, words we are a country of laws and no one is above the law, especially the President,” Rasmussen said.

The last President to be impeached was Bill Clinton back in 1998.

Public hearings will continue on Friday.  You can livestream the hearing on KYMA.com.
