Student stabbed at Salton City high school

A Salton City high school goes under lockdown after a student stabbed a classmate.

Officials from the Coachella Valley Unified School District say the attack happened Thursday afternoon at West Shores High School. Afterwards, the school went under a short lockdown to ensure the safety of all students and staff.

We’re told the stabbing was the result of a dispute between two classmates. It did not pose a threat to the wider school community.

Police detained the student accused of the stabbing.

The alleged victim was not seriously injured.

Classes will be held as usual on Friday. A crisis counseling team will be on campus to help students and staff deal with the incident.
