Crossroads Mission accepting donations to help thousands during holiday season

The holiday season is the perfect time to give to the less fortunate.

That’s why we are encouraging you to help this holiday season at KYMA’s annual Share Your Holiday Turkey Drive.

All proceeds will go to the Crossroads Mission.

On the regular, the Crossroads Mission serves around 1,200 meals a day and also makes home deliveries to the elderly.

As the holiday season rolls around, the mission depends on the community’s generosity.

The mission wants the community to feel extra special during the holidays.

This year they’re celebrating with three days of Thanksgiving dinners, as well as three Christmas dinners.

They’re expecting to feed over 3,500 people throughout each of those holiday periods.

Barbara Rochester says whatever the community can give will make a difference.

They’re welcoming perishable and non-perishable food items including but not limited to:

Turkeys Ground beef Enchiladas Tacos Vegetables Juices and chocolate milk for the children Just a reminder, the first turkeys that come in go to the mission’s veteran’s program, Post 19 VFW.

Rochester said, ” We really want to make sure that our veterans are taken care of, and then we’ll take care of the homeless and everyone else. ”

In addition to food, Rochester said the mission is currently short on bottled water, laundry soap, hygiene products and blankets to get them through as the weather changes.

Crossroads Mission hopes all the donations from the turkey drive will last 6 to 8 months.

Friday from 6 am to 10 pm, the mission will be accepting donations at three Walmart locations:
