Imperial County special district elections

Four special districts and two measures are on the ballot for Imperial County residents.

Meadows Union Elementary School District is the race with the highest number of candidates running. Seven candidates are hoping to win a seat at the school district.

” This is actually the first time I believe, that so many candidates are on the ballot for our school district. So we’re excited to see what the outcome is going to be, ” said Keila Rodriguez, acting superintendent.

Rodriguez says it’s important for parents to be involved in electing school board trustees, because their decision will impact their child.

“We have a great community very tight community, long term community that has been here for a long time so it is important that they go out and vote,” said Rodriguez.

Three other races are also on the ballot for residents, which include the Bombay Beach Community Service District, the Seeley County Water District, and the Salton Community Service District. Residents in the Salton City District will also be voting on measure N and measure O, both measures aimed to increase fire prevention funding in the area.

“It’s a good time for voters who are dissatisfied to come in and make their changes on who they elect,” said Debbie Porter, Imperial County Registrar of Voters.
