YCSO: Counterfeit currency used at local businesses

The Yuma County Sheriff’s Office ( YCSO ) is warning the public of reports of counterfeit U.S. currency being used at local businesses.

YCSO has received three separate reports over the past week. $1.00, $10.00, and $20.00 bill denominations have been identified as counterfeit.

YCSO advises that counterfeit currency can be identified using detector pens.

The suspects have been described as an adult Hispanic male and an adult Hispanic female. As this is an ongoing investigation, no further information is available at this time.

Anyone with any information concerning this investigation or similar fraudulent activity, or anyone who believes they may have been presented with counterfeit currency, is asked to contact the Yuma County Sheriff’s Office at (928) 783-4427 or 78-CRIME to remain anonymous.
