Yuma residents support local art community in “27th Annual Children’s Festival of the Arts”

It’s the event that’s been a hallmark in the Yuma Community for decades.

The 27th annual Children’s Festival of the Arts, took over downtown Yuma where residents came together to celebrate all arts in the community.

Whether it’s learning how to paint or make pottery, there was something for children of all ages.

Lindsay Benacka , Arts and Culture Program Manager for the Yuma Art Center said the event also served as a platform for local young artists to perform what they’ve been learning as well as motivate those who aspire to be future artists.

” So this is kind of a big buffet of arts for the community. So if you’re a young person thinking you might like to create something but you don’t know what that means or you’re a parent and you know you have a creative youngster and you just kind of don’t know where to get them started. This is a great opportunity to meet with lots of local youth groups. ”

Benacka said the festival also highlights the importance of art education for Yuma’s youth.
