Amberly’s Place “Dream Gala” a Success
On Saturday night, Amberly’s Place celebrated 20 years with a sold-out gala which will benefit even more victims.
Amberly’s Place is a family advocacy center that helps individuals and family transition from victim to survivor. The center marked their 20-year milestone with a gala, held at the Colorado River State Historic Park.
Throughout the event, there was a silent auction, and a live auction later on in the evening. These auctions are to benefit the 2,200 victims who visit Amberly’s place each year.
There was live music by a trio of singers, and dinner by Chef Alex Trujillo.
Perhaps the highlight of the night was a speech by the events special keynote speaker, Ed Smart. His daughter Elizabeth was abducted for nine months when she was 14 years-old, changing the family’s lives forever. He and his daughter Elizabeth are now victim advocates.
During his speech Ed Smart mentioned that a center like Amberly’s Place would have been wonderful during his family’s time of need and healing.
Stick with us for an interview with Ed Smart by KYMA reporter Carmen Valencia tomorrow, November 4.
