Jail officer’s body transported to medical examiner’s office
The body of Officer Gene Lee has been transported to the Maricopa County Medical Examiner’s Office in Downtown Phoenix Saturday morning.
A procession of motorcycles and a motorcade carried Officer Lee’s body from the hospital where he had been treated after an inmate assaulted him.
59-year-old Daniel Davitt knocked Lee to the ground, leaving him in a coma from a head injury. Officer Lee died Wednesday.
Davitt was arrested on suspicion of aggravated assault on a correctional officer, with more charges to be expected, reports Azfamily.com .
Davitt filed a sexual misconduct claim against Officer Lee in August, claiming Lee stared at Davitt inappropriately in a prison restroom.
