Mexicali woman charged in the brutal murder of her grandson
The grandmother who tearfully demanded justice for whoever beaten, murdered, and burned her 8-year-old grandson, is now believed to be a suspect in his death.
Wednesday morning, Mexican authorities arrested Ana Luisa, the grandmother of the 8-year-old boy in Mexicali.
Police interrogated Luisa and the child’s father.
After questioning and further investigation, Luisa is believed to be a suspect in her grandson’s murder.
A police investigation determined, on the evening of October 18, the grandmother hit the child in the head with a heavy object, causing fatal trauma to the boy’s skull.
Luisa lives on Avenue Real del Castillo and Mission San Ignacio in Mexicali.
However, police say neighbors made the gruesome discovery of the child’s burned body in a vacant lot in a different part of town, near Calzada Independencia and Periferico .
Last week, in an interview with Telemundo , Luisa said she reported her grandson missing on October 18, after the child’s father took the boy from her home without permission.
She claims both of her grandson’s parents were addicted to drugs.
Luisa appeared in court Wednesday in Mexicali, where her husband and younger grandson testified.
Her husband said his wife knew exactly where the body was all along.
The grandson accused Luisa of asking him to lie for her.
Police uncovered an empty gallon of gasoline and bloody clothing and sneakers in the grandmother’s home.
Ana Luisa is being charged with aggravated homicide of a relative, as well as, the burning and placement of the body.
Mexican authorities are still investigating this case to determine if anyone else was involved.
